Fabrico Próprio (book)
Fabrico Próprio is a book about much more than only confectionery. It is about a social and cultural phenomenon in Portugal, about design, consumption, childhood memories and history.
The main part of the book consists of an ‘Encyclopaedia of Cakes’, where 92 cakes are documented individually, in photos and respective brief descriptions. This encyclopaedia is interrupted by inserts with additional content, which were are printed on different papers and hold different layouts.
292 pp, 17×24.2 cm. For Fabrico Próprio, a multidisciplinary project dedicated to Portuguese semi-industrial confectionery and its relation to design, authored by Pedrita and Frederico Duarte, 2008.
Out of print. In 2012, we have designed a new, thoroughly revised and improved version of the book, now with 332 pages. It is available from the Fabrico Próprio website.
